The Laboratories
1. Medical Imaging
Is situated on the ground floor of the Institute, on the hall that continues from the entrance on Ion Creanga street.
The department is equipped with:
* Philips Aura (spiral) Computer Tomography
* GE Pace (conventional) Computer Tomography
* SwissRay for digital radiographic investigations
* Radioscopic investigations digital equipment
* Ecograph (classic transducer and for endocavity investigations)
* Ecograph with classic transducer
* Ecograph with soft tissue transducer (including mammary)
* Mammographic investigation equipment
Investigation possibilities:
* CAT scan for different anatomical segments (cranium, ORL, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, limbs – with or without contrast
* thoracic radioscopy, barium investigations
*abdominal – pelvic, soft tissue, special (endovaginal, endorectal, interventional), mammary ecography
* radiography (digital)
* mammography
The schedule is from Monday to Friday, between 7.30 a.m. and 13.30 p.m.
2. Nuclear Medicine
The entrance in the department is through the first door to the right from the entrance hall. The department is equipped with:
* Gamma Camera Siemens type E.cam Signature Series – Single Head, model Single Option
* Contaminometer, type INSPECTOR
* Ionifying radiation monitor, type SNR
* PTW Curiementor 3
* Esco Biohazard suction hood
* Radioprotection equipment
* Linear Scintigraphy Gamma, type MB 8100
Investigation possibilities:
* Thyroid scintigraphy with I-131 or with Tc-99m (with or without uptake determination)
* Parathyroid scintigraphy
* Lymph scintigraphy
* Bone scintigraphy
* Kidney scintigraphy
* Lung scintigraphy
* Liver scintigraphy
* Myocardium scintigraphy
Treatment:
* with Iodine 131 I-131
* in malignant and benign thyroid conditions
* Strontium Sr 89 treatment in the treatment of secondary bone determination in mammary, prostatic etc. neoplasia
* the program is Monday to Friday, between 7.30 a.m. and 13.30 p.m.
3. External Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy
Is situated on the ground floor of the Institute, as follows:
a) Brachytherapy
The first big hall to the right, from the main hall (Medical Imaging).
The platform includes:
* 2 brachytherapy equipment, one with a medium capacity (microselectron MDR), and another with high capacity (microselectron HDR)
* consultation rooms
* application rooms
The consultation schedule is between 08.00 a.m. and 13.30 p.m.
b) External Radiotherapy
Access to the department is made through the radiotherapy laboratory, the first door to the left, where you will find a big waiting room with a bas-relief on the front wall and a door in the middle that gives access to the radiotherapy equipment.
The first equipment is the Cobalt (Theratron 100) and you can find it immediately after the main door, on the left. The consultation schedule is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Then, following a hall with a ramp, to the left you can find the linear accelerator, Siemens Primus. If you look forward, you should find a panel indicating the two directions.
In the same access room to the Siemens accelerator, you can find 3 consultation rooms where you may be seen by a doctor in ambulatory.
